MY REFRECTION IN THE MIRROR

I can’t sleep at night
Without the fear of the fight
With the person within
Who looks like me
Sounds like me
But somehow not like me
I know I must avoid this beast
He wants my soul and its time to feast
My thoughts and ideas I must hide
To keep them from going to the other side
I must escape this place
But leave no trace
There are sounds and images that are not clear
This assures me the beast is near
I turn and I run
For the chase has begun
Only stopping to catch my breath
And avoid this certain death
I notice a door
But it’s built in the floor
I stop and I think
Am I free?
Or is he waiting for me?
I go through the door only to find an empty room
With a mirror hung on the wall
There are words on the mirror that read like this
You are mine till the end of time

Chilling and all too familiar. I like how descriptive it is and the flow fits with that of a dream sequence. Nice.

wow, i like this one, and i can relate

When power leads man towards arrogance, poetry reminds him of his limitations. When power narrows the area of man's concern, poetry reminds him of the richness and diversity of existence. When power corrupts, poetry cleanses.

John F. Kennedy (1917-1963) Thirty-fifth President of the USA
