I remember when there was no food to eat
so we would save our food from school
and bless the food and eat
there was times when foodstamps
used to keep us complete
hungry one day
made us becomes hustlers the next day
living on a prayer
but still having no dreams
cooking and cleaning
i guess became a part of me
going to school
sometimes with the same clothes on
only made me more stronger
and want for more then hunger
sharing beds
sometimes even having the water cut off
using tools to make it run again
i would never see the sun
until i let the light in
moving from house to house
yea sometimes it takes a toll
but living together
it ment more to us then
diamonds and gold
you see the love you share
sometimes gets untold
just a hug sometimes keeps out the cold
no money for rent
yea some they help out
only to get it thrown in ur face
why even help out?
never forget who you are
no matter how you struggle
start to take charge
never forget how many smiles
even when your doing wrong
think about others
before you string them along
life can make you unhappy
but love can break through the pain
enjoy today
cause tomorrow its against the grain
