    One Never Knows

    Engine running
    I follow suit
    Yank handle on door to
    Instant gratification
    Diet coke
    Is that all
Yes and clerk makes change for ten.

    Yank handle on door
    Exit to engine running
    Stopped dead in my tracks
    Eyes eyes God eyes with
    Hair clothes filthy
Hands where I place my change
    That I so desperately need.

    Diet
    Coke
    Insane
    Thank
    You
    Scraggly
    Angel.

    Ironic, True, Funny, Real.

Poetry is not an expression of the party line. It's that time of night, lying in bed, thinking what you really think, making the private world public, that's what the poet does.

    Allen Ginsberg (1926-1997) U.S. poet.
