Sandman's Confessions

Poem Commentary

Less silly than my other works. Hope you like it.

Sandman's Confessions

No time to weep
Or I'll put you to sleep.

You'll go anyway,
But I'll help you to stay.

You see, I never sleep, myself.
My job is nonstop
Sprinkling sand in eyes
Before people just drop.

I do my job almost perfect,
And I don't have to work it.

Keeping people asleep,
My job's hardly worth it!

I have to admit, though,
A cool part of my job:
Is seeing people's dreams
As their hearts softly throb.

I am the Sandman
The doing-my-job-man,

The "guy-who-keeps-you-asleep-
While-your-alarm-clock-goes-off-man."

My job is nonstop
Keepin' heads in beds soft.
So forget the Candyman
'Cause I am the Sandman
