Shade of Black

Shade of Black

I hide behind closed doors so you won't see what is happening to me.

I have shut out all of the weaknesses of my soul, no more tears of disgrace.

My world has become a shade of black with one last tint of happiness that is slowly fading out.

I feel no pain or sorrow, I am numb to the cruelty of life, and dead to the joy of it.

No more hiding behind what isn't there, no more smiles to hide the tears that no longer exist.

My soul is tumbling throug a dark abyss never to see the light again.

My world has become a shade of black with that last tint of happiness fading out until it is dead.

I can feel your distress in this one. Very expressive and again it shows promise. Nice Job.

If I feel physically as if the top of my head were taken off, I know that is poetry.

Emily Dickinson (1830-1886) American poet.
