    Symbolic

    I don't need a commitment
I do not need a ring
Nor some small piece of paper
    That really says nothing

I do not need to hear
    "This is my girlfriend"
    Mrs, Fiancee, my better half
Doesn't mean it will never end

    Upon your door I'll knock
I do not need a key
Don't bother with a special drawer
    My toothbrush I'll carry

Just tell me what your heart
    says to you each night
    put your arms around me
    always hold me tight

    Be there when I'm frightened
    Forgive me when I'm mad
    Accept that I'm not perfect
Bring a smile when I'm sad

    Those are the real symbols
    That your love is true
The world never needs to know
    It's between me and you

Great write, says so much that many would do well to heed. The ring won't hold you at night nor feed you chicken soup when you are sick. Loved it

Very inspiring, and very touching. This was well worded, except for the part "upon your door i'll knock, i do not need a key don't bother with a special drawer my toothbrush I'll carry" This didn't make much sense to me, but other than that I really liked the poem. Keep writing.

Very nice work. How it changes your world for the better when it is right, and it shows.

The true philosopher and the true poet are one, and a beauty, which is truth, and a truth, which is beauty, is the aim of both.

Ralph Waldo Emerson, American Poet (1803-1882)
