The Bridge
Alan Scott Photography
This photo sits quietly on my wall, each day offering me an escape from the stresses of the day
I think about the photographer who took this photo
Enjoying his only day off with his true love hanging from his neck
He quietly searches for beauty that goes unnoticed by the other passers-by;
Runners logging miles; children burning energy; walkers with their new pups
He follows the meandering little river that is peaceful and calm
His eyes soak in everything around him
Searching for trinkets to bring back from his journey
Patience runs through him giving him time to explore with no particular agenda
The river's edge calls to him and he finds a small stone to skim off the river bank
His love soon calls him back and he moves on with his quest
The golden hour approaches as he turns the corner
In front of him, a peaceful little bridge leading to new paths to explore
New loves pause as they cross for a kiss and a glance
And there is the unmistakable sound
The gentle sound of water descending from the rocks, just starting to thaw from the winter's chill
Beyond the bridge, the tranquil water creates a reflection; God's mirror of his gift
The sun touches the water with its’ final kiss of the day
The kiss is carried softly and gently across the water as it sails out to sea
He wonders how he can possibly capture this moment, which he will effortlessly
He and his camera are a harmonious union; fitting together like perfect lovers
And from this love comes a gift that he shares with us
So that we can go back with him to that perfect place
And for a moment, leave life's chaos behind
