The Battle Within
I stand here in the wilderness;of this dark and dreary world;
Surrounded by such madness;
Decaying my soul down to its core.
I look upon the light;
It barely glimmers through.
Reaching to touch it;
It penetrates my carcass;
Exhibiting the life I once knew.
A rotting pile of debris;
Left behind from this world’s storms;
Sprang forth from the depths of its grave;
Shaking me with violent force.
Light and debris;
Exchanging their blows;
Day after day a bloody brawl.
Falling apart debris did lose;
As day after day more light shown through.
I won’t pick up the pieces;
I’ll leave them there behind;
There on the ground for birds to dine.
No grave for debris will you ever find.
Out through the light;
Life did sprout;
Day after day growing throughout.
