The Eve of a New Year
Is it the end of the last year... or the beginning of a new year? I guess it depends on you. Is the glass half full or half empty kind of thing. I look back at the last year and realize how many thing I fell short on. Losing weight, paying off my credit cards, and being the kind of man I want to be. I did do okay on the last one. I haven't done anything to be ashamed of.... that I can remember. I did become a Grandfather.... awesome!! But now for the poemHere's to the people that took the time to make someone happy, whether you knew them or not. To the ones we loved unconditionally expecting nothing in return. Here's to the ones who cried. I wish I could remove your pain... but we must learn from this pain and we must move forward. Never let the pain harden your heart, but let it make you tougher and more understanding. Kiss someone you love and let them know HOW much.... for tomorrow they may not be here and it will be to late. Lend a stranger a dollar. You didn't really need it anyway, and if that's all it takes to make someone happy..... what an investment. Here's to the dreamers. We dream of things to come, better ways to do it, and what it will mean to others. But last and not least, here's to the poets. We make people feel things that they can not explain. We paint pictures that they couldn't see. We bring them tears they didn't know they had. Tears of both sadness and joy. If you want to cry, then cry. If you want to sing, then sing. If you want to scream out, then scream. For all your worth!! This world MUST know that you are part of it. If you want to be quiet, then be quiet. Sometimes silence says what words can not. Welcome in the new year with everything your worth.
