The Face In The Crowd by Ernestine Lee

Into the crowd one looks to see
Is it a stranger or is others looking at me
Stopping to wonder how life could be
With memories from time as knowing me
Am I a stranger before all the faces here
I bend my head low to shed a tear
Had it been so long ago
All twenty five years or so
How could I have escaped his care
Letting life go by staying so unaware
To become a face, frozen in a crowd
Where so many faces stare so allowed
Yet to see the face renewed in my mind
Though the face has changed with time
Back then it was life we had bared
As life we knew , and life was shared
Our love from youth, so devine
Now only a face in the crowd of time

Very nicely arranged and I understood every word of it well. Great read.

When power leads man towards arrogance, poetry reminds him of his limitations. When power narrows the area of man's concern, poetry reminds him of the richness and diversity of existence. When power corrupts, poetry cleanses.
