    The Lone Wolf (Conclusion)

He has her in his sight,
    A beauty of dusty gray,
    Standing alone in the night,
She begins to turn his way.

He takes a few steps and stops,
    She turns the other direction,
    He feels his heart flop,
    She fears rejection.

    He begins his confident stride,
She sees him come for her,
    His beautiful cub-like bride,
Tonight he will caress her fur.

He approaches her his stride slowing,
This lone wolf who once was one,
    His wife is glowing,
They've a bond never to be undone.

A poem begins as a lump in the throat, a sense of wrong, a homesickness, a lovesickness. It finds the thought and the thought finds the words.

    Robert Frost (1875-1963) American Poet.
