The Vine

The Vine

Sadness once entwined me,
In the many twisted vines of life,
All at once I face my destiny,
The thorn's may cause achings at my side.

The flowers seldom bloom,
The roses seldom smell sweet,
When they do gone is the gloom,
Wilted petals beneath my feet.

Sandy roads follow my dusty trails,
Noone to wipe the tears from my eyes,
In the distance a single wolf lets uot a lonely wail,
Echoing my own silent yet desperate crie's.

Through many desolate years,
Unfulfilled expectations,
Unimaginable fears,
Remember the vine travels in many directions.

With each thorn,
Comes an unexpected rose,
Though often the flesh is torn,
With each wound our wisdom grows.
