the promise of love

the promise of love

God is the provider of all things
so it is in my talk
my dialogue with my inner self
a self that appeals to the realm of God
help me to adjust to the unfulfilled expectations
to the pain I receive
to the pain I am capable of giving
let there be forgiveness
in my maladjusted relationships
I forgive those whom I see
as causing me pain and sorrow
I know there are deeper places
in all of us
where we connect as brothers, as sisters
through the shouting, anger, disagreements
disappointments, jealousy, and sadness
there is a meeting ground
as friends, as lovers
we can care for each other
behind the masks of negative emotions
when all has been said and done
there remains
the promise of love
