The Road Taken

The Road Taken

How can you stand the darkness?

How can you love such a sad creature, As I?

Having to swim through the tears

To get to my heart

Breaking down the wall,

Fighting for my affection

I wish just as much as you

That the way to my heart was easy

I have to get through it as well

For my own love, For me

Show me the map to my own happiness

For only you know the way

To my Love, My happiness

It’s been hidden from me

By those who lured me

To another path

A path that I became accustomed to

A path that is dark and filled with thorns

Tearing at my heart and soul

I stand here bleeding and crying

And you found me

I was beaten to the core

And you still found beauty

You showed me the path of light and love

I thought it was too bright and clean,

For a sad creature like me

You stayed by my side

Even if it meant

Having to walk down that dark path

And lead me back to the light

Do you get tired of it?

How can you stand the darkness?

How can you love such a sad creature, As I?

a sad empty feeling of being not good enough to be loved and nurtues drips from this poem. thanks for sharing it

Poetry is either something that lives like fire inside you or else it is nothing, an empty formalized bore around which pedants can endlessly drone their notes and explanations.
