    Poem Commentary

This was written for some riders who have helped me to fulfill a dream of riding across USA on a Harley.

    THUNDER IN THE DISTANCE

    A distant rumble
    echoed through the silence.
    Unnoticed at first,
it's deep roar grew louder, more menacing.

    The skies clear,
    no lightening to see.
    But the thunderous applause
    grew deafeningly louder.

    The ground I stood on
    trembled and vibrated.
    The resonance growing,
    the onslaught drawing nearer.

    In the not far distance,
no dust clouds accompanied their entrance.
    Just silver and black pulsating
like the devil himself with wings on his back.

    A hundred bikes rode
    through the town.
    Their sight and sound
unlike anything I had seen or heard before.

    They rode right through,
    ne'er stopping or faltering.
And left in their wake not fright nor fear
but an awakening in each who saw this awesome sight.

    Ride long - Ride hard.

Heroism and the thrill of the riders. a very unusual topic.thank you. I read your biography too. Time heals many wounded hearts.

Poetry is when an emotion has found its thought and the thought has found words.
