    Trembling

    I am overcome with emotion
as my sleep muddled mind slowly clears
and I see you standing over me.
    My unfinished dream becomes reality
    momentarily, then abruptly fades
as I see her standing next to you.
I blink, disbelievingly, eyes beginning to sting.
Displaced, I stumble into the other room,
    trembling as I realize why.
Familiar tears well and fill my eyes
    spilling over my flaming cheeks
pausing briefly at the corners of my mouth.
I taste the salty-sweetness of my love for you,
catching it on the tip of my tongue
    before it turns to bitterness.
You don't give me a second thought
    as you send me away
and take her in my stead.
I linger at the door, trembling,
    watching you lower her amongst
the silken cushions in the bower once meant for me.
One last glance before I close the door
and your knife in my heart twists deeper.

This is so terribly sad, I wanted to cry. But so beautiful. I'm sorry you had to go through this, but I hope you value the heartbreak. It makes you stronger

Filled with much emotion, some piece, even if small is held by you, or your vision of the worlds sadness is deep. A good read for me, I'll check out your other works.

This is poetry!! This is what it is all about, writing pain,passion,joy..ect.I am sorry for your lost love.-That said, you worked these lines incedibly. The visual was insane(in a good way)The title was clever.Ending was passionate. An easy 10.

Thank you, Madelynn. As painful as it was, if I had not lost my love, I would not be the person I am today. Painful lessons, exquisitely so, but necessary, just the same.

To have great poets there must be great audiences too.
