Why?

    Why?

    There was something about you
    That I couldn't quite place
    I never did doubt you
Till I saw it in your face
That's when I knew we would part
In that one moment of lust
    You shattered my heart
When you took that man's thrust
    Now my heart lies still
    It's been ground into dust
    Half of me in fear
    The other in disgust
    You said you loved me
And like a fool I did believe
Why did you do that to me
My heart now on my sleeve
I hate you for the fact
In that one moment you knew
Even after you did the act
    I will always love you

I felt your pain, written well, great poem.

When power leads man towards arrogance, poetry reminds him of his limitations. When power narrows the area of man's concern, poetry reminds him of the richness and diversity of existence. When power corrupts, poetry cleanses.

John F. Kennedy (1917-1963) Thirty-fifth President of the USA
