A Fin for One Side
And so he swam underneath a shell
It cornered two rocks and a black tube that spiraled
The chill under the shell thickened as he adapted, but it was his to have
Shining away like a glass vase being doubly bagged
There were no ultimatums; no more do or dies
He made up for it all but often wondered why
Days had passed, and months; you can even say years
He'd wait all the while for hope, keeping his eyes peered
He'd watch as the algy cleared, knowing staying there would mean trouble
Even if there were a way out, he'd lie in an open casket holding a shovel
Suddenly, he turned up in a place he was no stranger to
Vague images scattered across his memory, and it was not until then he knew
The water spread a bluish tone with a few bowfin's near
His pupils died down like nightfall and with this freedom, nothing could interfere
He was out in the open where the coral was easy to cut through
Always taking credit when the credit was due
You can't blame him for taking advantage
But eventually time caught up with him, until there was no cure for the damage
He still rides with the tide, and forgot himself through deceit
The best part was that he discovered a new world where everything is make believe
Under his shell, he remains with years of imagination that has embellished
But to this day he lives in a tank, not as a fish, but as a relic
Chase your mind; see where it takes you
It cornered two rocks and a black tube that spiraled
The chill under the shell thickened as he adapted, but it was his to have
Shining away like a glass vase being doubly bagged
There were no ultimatums; no more do or dies
