a land fit for heroes

Poem Commentary

i've seen some messed up veterans and i was listening to ralph mc tell's "streets of london" n i realised it's just as true today as it was back then.

a land fit for heroes

some come back in boxes,
some don't come back at all.
they fight so we don't have to
and far too many fall.
then tere's some who come back broken,
never to be the same,
a permanent reminder that war is not a  game.
you can see them under bridges,
in boxes they call home.
no job, no friends, no family,
they face their terrors all alone.
they're the ones who look right through you
as though you were not there,
just another broken hero,
in a world that forgot to care.

the heroics of war honour, glory, ribbons are brief, the tragedy sometimes lasts a life time. the world moves on.....

This poem is a great reminder. I wish our country would display more respect and reverence to these men and women that put there life on the line. If you are one. Thank you.

A poem begins as a lump in the throat, a sense of wrong, a homesickness, a lovesickness. It finds the thought and the thought finds the words.

Robert Frost (1875-1963) American Poet.
