    A Revelation of Sorts

    Sometimes I feel
    people are too good for me
    whether putting on airs
    acting like they just don't care
    sticking their noses in the air
    as if elevation
    will lead to a revelation of sorts

    Sometimes I notice
    people go out of their way
    to ruin another’s perfect day
    well maybe perfect is not the right word
    sometimes the things we perceive
    tend to be rather absurd
    the grass is always greener
    fences make nice neighbors
    someone's downfall
    may be another's savior

    Not talking about religion
    poking sticks at hornet nests
    just stirs up indignation
    from self righteous flocks
    who want you to take stock
    in what they aim to convey
    whether one agrees or not
    there is a price to pay

    Sacrificing is just the icing
    on these sickly sweet cakes
    go ahead and partake
    everyone is on the make
    just to prove they are not fake
    following some notions of order
    standing behind invisible borders
    hoping foundations won't break

    Sometimes I realize
    there must be some truth
    hidden behind these eyes
    where roots and sentences
    branch out into paragraphs
    trying to decipher this madness
    my part in this sadness
    a speck of dirt
    flowing with hurt
    in the face of the Great Unknown
