Bragging Rights
She was on Facebook
bragging about her life
how everything turned out alright
what a wonderful husband
2 beautiful children
she is the luckiest woman alive
A retort is rising in my throat
better go to my corner
to glare and gloat
another poem expels
I'm not doing alright
Drinking coffee like a fish
so I can wile away the night
I'm gay, they're straight
our world views collide
I'm trying to find my way
wrestling with these peculiarities
not run into a closet to hide
I have no idea
what my life revolves around?
I'm sitting here pondering this
feeling quite lost and bound
then I'm off to Neverland
stuck in this perpetual rut
this Peter Pan Syndrome
that I seriously need to cut
Trying to find a common bond
without raising any alarm
why is the hair standing up on my arms?
Can one get by on just Wit and Charm?
Sick of this pack mentality
anything different must be attacked
tied to a fence or splattered on a wall
punched in the face
kicked in the balls
I'd like to take
a baseball bat to them all
