A Shade of Gray

A Shade of Gray

Shades of yellow fade away,

Skies of blue all turn to gray,

Born of darkness that leads astray,

These shallow minds,  with nothing say,

Songs unsung nor music play,

To quickly pass,  then pass away,

With open arms yet hands still tied,

Of lovers loss, the victor pride,

Tainted flickers of brighter day,

Cast no shadows nor show the way ,

Empty arms ahold so tight ,

Long the hours awaiting light,

For sleep comes not of a troubled mind,

These falling tears in darkness hide,

Thy lovers spent, thy purchased pride,

But know thee not till love has died.
