THE WIND IN THE WILLOW
Heard the willow whisper softly
Unto the summer breeze
Oh won't you stop to talk awhile
Take a rest beneath my leaves
But the breeze just kept on blowing
Through the hills and valleys green
He could feel his branches reaching
For a love he'd never seen
The willow shed a single tear
As he dropped unto his knees
His branches brushed the daffodils
When he called out to the breeze
Oh summer breeze please tell me
What I have done to thee
Why do you always pass on by
But not a word you say to me
The summer breeze took notice
For she had always loved the tree
So she stilled but for a moment
Then whispered softly as can be
Can't you feel me in the evenings
As I brush up next to thee
Rustling through your branches
Caressing all your leaves
I always thought you understood
The special love I have for thee
But a breeze must keep on blowing
Or there'd be nothing left of me
