broken dreams
His job is gone
his self worth has escaped
his mind is failing him
pride is all but a mere shadow of its former self
despair is the word
future bleek
future not so bright
life is is taking its toll
desperation is around the corner
loss of morals seam near
losing friends near and dear
losing himself
newspapers empty
un-employment rate rising
workforce cheapened
honest days pay
honest days work
forgotten
man with out work
man with out pride
man humbled by the american dollar
the amercian dream
a dream built on lies
not every man is equal
not every man that works hard will be rewarded
not every woman gives birth to future presidents
a dream
a lie
the same
the car
the phone
a computer
a television
modest house
fridge empty
table void of nurishment
kids crying
naked babies
feet uncovered
water scarce
conditoned air , a farce
lthe bottom of the barrel
all the scraping has been done
the weight of life is always heavy
the burden to maintain lifestyles has grown
creature comforts have doubled, tripled
todays life has become
one bill
and the cost is our lives
a life behind a desk
behind the wheel of a truck
in a warehouse
in a field
behind a mower
and all others included
this is not a dream
this cant be the american dream
lost in translation is this dream to me
Freedom
our freedom has been taken
our freedom to be and live off the land has been taken
our freedom to just be
taken by corporations
taken by time clocks
taken by greed
taken by the american dream
success and money
this man with no job
this man with no future
this mans dreams broken
broken by the almighty need
the need for money
no longer do we hunt, nor fish
no longer need we forrige for lumber and stone
no longer must we gather
we need only move to the crack of the whip
the whip instilled by you
and me
