    Broken

Afraid to heal to start again
Afraid to love to try in vain
An easy target is the heart
Its massacred mass a work of art
Time after time it feels the pinch
Of consuming emotions, the greedy grinch
Pulling and tugging on heart strings
Over and over disappointment it brings
Where is the justice in giving a chance
Searching and fighting for true romance
Deeper and deeper we tend to fall
Willing and waiting to give it our all
But when the dust settles and all is taken
We remain abused, battered and broken.
