    Drinkin

As I empty this bottle, I put in work from my pen,
This forty goin straight to the head no matter what anyone said.
Around the corner this liquor stay lurkin and turnin me red,
Til this light in my head flickers and thoughts keep workin me dead.
My bloodstream is hurtin for certain,
Til I close this curtain and lay myself down to bed.
This is an alternate identity, and alternate ending,
An alternate world, no response to the message I'm sending.
Not sure what to expect, my soul and spirit are bending,
This isn't what I want to accept, feels like everthing is ending.
You tried giving me tips, and I'm so sorry I missed them,
So I took this so called liquid wisdom and flooded my system,
I led the Devil get the best of me,
I see him to the left of me as I let this Hennesy,
    Wreck everything including my destiny.
I'm just living for the moment, this instant is real.
Not worried about tomorrow, this liquor could be my last meal.
I need to eat knowledge and hope I don't waste it.
Ingest some intelligence, I can't wait to taste it.
Courage isn't a bottle, this is stupid I'm wasted,
I don't try to start shit,
But I face this army of darkness,
Got this vehicle in reverse, so I attempted to park it.
    Not sure what to think,
But life is a bitch, I think I just need a drink.

    Thank you!

Poetry is not an expression of the party line. It's that time of night, lying in bed, thinking what you really think, making the private world public, that's what the poet does.

    Allen Ginsberg (1926-1997) U.S. poet.
