    EVERY TIME

Every time you said that I couldn't
And every time you said that I wouldn't
Did you at least let me try?

    Every time I wasn't able
And every time my actions weren't stable
Did you at least let me explain why?

Every time that you neglected my needs
And every time you told me I wouldn't succeed.
Did you at least care that I cried?

Of all those words that you've said
And of all those thoughts you've put into my head
Did you at least say that you LOVE me?

When power leads man towards arrogance, poetry reminds him of his limitations. When power narrows the area of man's concern, poetry reminds him of the richness and diversity of existence. When power corrupts, poetry cleanses.
