    For You Were Always There...

    You were always there,
Even when I didn’t notice you
You where there, when I looked the other way,
    Patiently you were there…
As I chased others who came my way
You were, even I did not see you,
Not knowing that you always cared.

You were always there, so close to me, but yet so veiled.
Quietly you waited, upon my invitations; but still, somehow,
I failed to note that you were always there
The secrets of you, yearning to be with me, but always finding
just enough reason to avoid that one encounter with me.
You were always there, and so sadly, you retreated; with your head bowed, and heart rejected.

Sadly, in time, I noticed you, your intentions and devotion towards me,
So foolishly, I did feel, for I’d wasted all that time on my silly notions,
And could not see the beautiful person who stood before me, But, ignored the one who was always there...

Years have gone by, and now,
I realize my search was in vain,
For if I had opened my heart, instead of my eyes…
    I would have saw you clearly standing in front of me;
    For you  were always there.
