Gatekeeper

Poem Commentary

This poem was written in the prospective of a dear friend of mine whose love is very troubled and confusing. I got the idea for gate keeper because of all the walls she built.

Gatekeeper

A hand pressed firmly against a gate that
surrounds the battered ruins retaining my heart.
With vines that intertwine and look like double helix.
Giving me the the blue prints where only few have
tread.

There is no high gate climbing here,
"no trespassing"

So say the sign hinged like a steel hangnail
written in black and blue.

Blood drizzles out your knuckles for you're
rattling a cage that you can not
reckon with. Your rapping beats pound a
hard vibration even the clouds are shaken.
You're building a storm around my heart.
Stems of lightning fire from cloud to cloud.
Like the dots connected by a child who
knows no better.

he left no open spaces in the shapes he drew
Triangles we once knew. Just walk away so
these ruins renew.

I knew it was you- shook the tree of life to
gather fruits just to know the sweet nectar
of sin.

So stop putting your pins in my heart.
I'm no voodoo doll. you're just pricking
where you know it hurts. But even
trampled roses still have thorns.
Like everything else I can be reborn.
Battling myself and you is not what I
what I want to do. So please walk
away I'll be home soon. I'll be home
soon.

great write... full of raw emotion that I'm all too familiar with...

To have great poets there must be great audiences too.
