    Poem Commentary

I don't know! I was sad and upset

    GODS

    Gods

    When the world is dark
and the demons seem to have control
    Just trust in your heart
and the evil will beg to be let go

    Belief is the key
it will unlock all the desparate doors
    Thru his light you see
and reminds you what your praying for

Thousands of years we have known
that the cross is the symbol of paradise
With his blood our faith has grown
for our sins Jesus paid the price

Our father gave us his son
to burden the blame of sin
He unites the world as one
giving us the tools to win

We can live forever with no worries or sorrow
if we can just trust in him now
We shall always sleep to wake again tomorrow
Know his word, and take the vow

    But wait!
    What is this!
Children are crying, The world is dieing
Could it be true that the Gods were lieing

Poetry is not an expression of the party line. It's that time of night, lying in bed, thinking what you really think, making the private world public, that's what the poet does.

    Allen Ginsberg (1926-1997) U.S. poet.
