LEFT BEHIND

Poem Commentary

It seems those who truely love with all their heart. Are left behind

LEFT BEHIND

The ancient sun dwellers could have built a pyramid
fit for the richest king
In the time that its been
since I last seen your beautiful smile
Heard your angel like voice
or smelt your sweet sweet desire
I too still have dreams

Fast and furious they work
Shining the gold, carving the stone,
and chiseling through their faith
Where I on the other hand have done nothing
I still ponder and grudgingly hurt
over our forgotten trust.
Knowing deep inside my bleeding heart...
Still burning is our fire!
Undieing Love or Lingering Lust?

The Gods so proud of what his people have left behind
a reward is never offered in return.
Through past lies, a painful lesson we must learn

Only on faith and trust
do the accomplishments become forever embedded for our eyes to see.
What lessons do we learn
I only live on love and hope
Knowing both are as unrealistic
as if the sun never takes the sky hostage again
Leaving the lonely night to rule our path
through life...Left behind never to return

With no regret or no promises
they still built the monument
Stone by heavy stone and sand by eerie sand
The immaculate treasure shall rise and stand
for our entire existence to marvel
Some will even worship...
Not to be left behind and never to disappear
I move closer to prove our love will Always reappear

I too have my memories
Artifacts that lye around my house
None with great scientific accomplishments
or earth shattering results
Only to me anyway
Some I marvel...
and yes some I even worship

They were left behind
but for me will never disappear
Although our souls are lost
and heat seems much colder...
The Fire Most Certainly Still Burns
As my love for you grows older

Just like the Sunday paper
Tossed aside and never given a second thought
How can a love so strong and pure
be so quickly forgotten?

What morals are taught
I guess she'll always have a piece of my heart
That she'll keep locked deep down inside
I only wish it was the size of the oceans
and not the size of the pond
That I have left behind with the tears I cry

But no matter how far away
her gorgeous smile may stray
I will FOREVER
have that picture imprinted in my mind
And no matter how long it may be
before I hear the sound of her sensual voice

I will NEVER
forget how the sound of her saying "I love"
you really meant to me

I am cold...
I am lonely...
and even sadder, I am deeply hurt
I will carry on! and leave footprints in the dirt

For no matter how bad it may become
You will never be left behind
This trail I will leave so I will be easy for you  to find
Just follow the shadow, under the sun

My love for you will never run away
It will not hide, it will not be shy
And most certainly will never die
So when you are lost and lonely
Searching for your one and only
Look deeper into your heart and I am sure you will find
The love you once had for me
That lately...you have left behind

When power leads man towards arrogance, poetry reminds him of his limitations. When power narrows the area of man's concern, poetry reminds him of the richness and diversity of existence. When power corrupts, poetry cleanses.
