    Hair

You once curly and blonde, but that was years ago. You had to grow out and change. One day a flat top took your soul. Went to see a man about a dog, when they strapped me to a chair, just once around the block, you were no longer there. The 60s came and went. I had my chance to rebel. You came out of hiding for a while. The curls were darker for a spell. The man with the dog had passed and gone, but he still spoke to my soul. uncle Sam came a calling. You had to go.  She liked the way you flowed. She had a place to roam. At the drive in on Friday nights, more than often you were her home. After the vows came a real job, and a chance to buy a home, then came the promotion. You were gone.  I'm chasing grandkids around the park now. some say it's good for my soul. I'm taking Joe to see the man. Those golden locks have got to go. You're getting thinner now. I guess I'm getting old. I've heard it said as all things change, you'd be the first to go.

I once had hair in a galaxy, long, long ago, Ah the memories. Saves on visits to the barbershop and all those fancy shampoos and creams, not to mention hair brushes and combs. Nice read. Thanks for sharing....

I remember a lady who cut hair in the area. she did not go to beauty school. she had two styles, flat top or just flat gone. thanks for reading my poem

Poetry is not an expression of the party line. It's that time of night, lying in bed, thinking what you really think, making the private world public, that's what the poet does.

    Allen Ginsberg (1926-1997) U.S. poet.
