Watching Mama Get A Tan

Mama's up early in the morning,
 in her tattered cotton gown,
hair's tied up in a bun,
with curls bouncing all around.
She's standing on the front porch,
with a broomstick in her hand.
I think it's kind of sexy,
 watching mama get a tan.
  Fixin breakfast in the morning,
eggs and bacon in a pan.
On a cold day we get biscuits,
sourgham syrup from a can.
She's standing in the kitchen window,
 as she's seasoning the pan.
I think it's kind of sexy,
 watching mama get a tan.
As she steps out of the shower,
I'm there to give her a hand.
20 years and three kids later,
 I'm still her biggest fan.
 Looking in her make-up mirrow,
as she's thinking up some plan.
I think it's kind of sexy,
watching mama get a tan.
At the church around the corner,
this afternoon we renewed our vows.
The dress was just a little tighter,
but she looks even better now,
and now sweat pools in her navel,
as she's lying in the sand.
 I think it's very sexy,
watching mama get a tan.

Ahh this is amazing!! So tender and loving and a breath of fresh air to see you so taken aback by 'mama''s beauty "20 years and three kids later". Long may it continue. Beautiful repetition. I was listening to some jaunty country music on an advert on the TV as I read this, and it fitted it perfectly!!! You could perform this with a beaten up guitar or, better, a sweet, 40-year organ.

He is back . Great poem and i agree papa is liking mama too Marie

In science one tries to tell people, in such a way as to be understood by everyone, something that no one ever knew before. But in poetry, it's the exact opposite.

Franz Kafka (1883-1924) Czech writer.
