"I Knew That Place"
There was a place I used to go when no one else was there.Still there, but harder to find, especially if you don't know where
To go to get there even when you knew where.
The only place I could call my own, one else could.
A place everyone should have if they could have especially
When there is nowhere else to go, why not take a stroll?
I look there everyday, wonder if I can ever get back
To the place that started as a large orange sack.
The kind you get at any store to get back on the track.
A place I went when I was young and watched as it grew, I did too.
The parts, the country, little growing things, a sky so blue.
A place for me and hopefully a place for you too.
It grew and grew, I did too, as it formed what was to be mine.
A little place out in the woods where no one would ever find.
My place, my space, the county in my mind.
Afraid to lose my little place, a plan had to be made.
So none could change me or the sunny spot where I laid.
Been there, but where, and how am I to return?
On the wall, waiting for me, sky, mountain and trees.
Never leaves me, always pleases me like a gentle breeze.
A painting, by me, to remind me where I want to be.
