I Said it All

Poem Commentary

And so she left the me...

I Said it All

You know the air is best after the squall

I suffocate in void - I said it all

Of course I’m gonna soar after the fall

But yet I’m six foot deep - I said it all

I ain’t no shy when setting you a call

I’m comfortably numb - I said it all

Inanity inside - I’m like a ball

Deflated punctured rag - I said it all

You know the truth and now there’s no distressing

We’re getting closer day by day

But if I knew the anguish of the blessing

I’d better throw my tongue away

Poetry is not an expression of the party line. It's that time of night, lying in bed, thinking what you really think, making the private world public, that's what the poet does.

Allen Ginsberg (1926-1997) U.S. poet.
