It Wasn't My Fault
“Your life is a shambles”, said the Mother to the Son. “Yes, that’s true”, he replied –“but, it wasn’t my fault that the officer found that gun!”
“You’ve lost your license and now you can’t drive, that’s bad enough but, now you’re facing one – five!” “Yes – you are right”, replied the son “but, it wasn’t my fault that I had to run.” “I had dope in my pocket and a weapon on me too.” “I needed to toss them, what else was I to do?”
The Mother sighs then slowly replies; “Well you could get a job – that’s what normal people do.” “Yeah”, the Son replies, “and they all be fools.” Working for the man, giving Uncle Sam half their cash- Working all month for what I use for my daily playing stash!” “Drowning in the system doing their daily grind – Anyway, my Boy say he got me covered I ain’t gonna do no time!”
Well Son, I know that you would like to believe that and I hope that it’s true. But, maybe just until court you could find something else to do.”
“Come on Mom get off my back- quit talking like that! I done told you. “It wasn’t my fault and it won’t happen again!” He shouts, and slams out the door going to meet his friends.
A few hours later the doorbell rings. Mom opens the door and lets the PO—LICE in. “Oh Lord, its Jr is he in jail again?” “No Mam, say’s the officer, not this time.” He was caught up in a bust down on 59th.”
“He had a weapon and he tried to run. I asked him to freeze and drop the gun. But, he wouldn’t listen when I told him to halt – He turned his weapon on me.” “I had to shoot him Mam – “It wasn’t my fault!”
