My Dear Friend

My Dear Friend

Lost to the world I lay in my head
I speak to the demons as they come to my side
Faces appear where they once were not
I see the evil in your soulless eyes
Flames lick at my heart as the love fades
How have I come so blindly to this place
Trapped in this cage you secretly put up around me
I can not find the door
There is no escape
Suffocating in this place you call home
Lies in my foggy brain roll round
Far away I call where is my helpful savior
None to come as the world is breaking
Falling through this dark hole to the depths of my soul
Ice runs through my veins as my heart closes down
Shake it out I have to be done with all of this
I have to find the light in this dismal mess
Getting over this sickness I feel it in my bones
Tempted by the candy it offers as it walks back to the end
Forward I must go to get away from it all
Brighter it comes and it warms my deep scars
To escape fully would be a miracle not bestowed upon me

This is so tastefully dark and beautiful, you have such a way with words, you can twist and manipulate them to fit your exact meaning...that's amazing. *BTW 5th line down, fads should be fades, right? Sorry, OCD on spelling... Sickness is also a symbolistic word I use, some people never understand it, but I do. Exquisite work!!! 10 from me.

Poetry is not a turning loose of emotion, but an escape from emotion.

T. S. Eliot (1888-1965) American-English poet and playwright.
