    Numbers To Words

    To which I wait.
    To what is tonight.

    My focus is broadened.
    My breath is light.

All above this moment contends life.
Mixtures of resins dull the ridge.

Above all, this moment seems right.
The shallows are dry, distance a blur.

On the table the garden grows.
On that thought, out come two more.

No one to feed, no one to share.
No one to welcome, no one to hear.

I've looked at maps to bring me there.
Upon my return, I retrace my steps.

Thoughts are the making of my way.
Retreat numbs my mind still so clear.

In science one tries to tell people, in such a way as to be understood by everyone, something that no one ever knew before. But in poetry, it's the exact opposite.

    Franz Kafka (1883-1924) Czech writer.
