"Regret Lies Still"
Regret lies in the same bed with love
When time pulls the covers over
Years and ages of love and lovers
All the warmth, affection, and tears
All the coldness, loneliness, and fears
Mixed into the same creases and folds
Memories become meshed into one
Dreams become dream-
dreamt of too much as of late
Too late to make realities
From memories meshed into regrets-
Reminiscence’s sole companion
Upon tonight’s brow- I recall
The numerous kisses she hath worn
Adorned by memory-seducing scents
This bed, this night, this touch
Of loneliness-
Regret lies in the same bed with love
And- when she’s gone-
Time having pulled the covers over
The same creases and folds- change
Into a death shroud upon past dreams
Become nightmares in a grave
Entombed in reminiscent solitude
Regret squeezes memory (of- love)
Closed-casket-loneliness.
