    "The Troll"

A terror hiding out of sight,

    Mutilation of the fantasy world,

The one I saw through the unicorn’s eye.

Among the shadows and through the peak of night,

Where fairies shun and never light,

These hideous markings upon a majestic land

Show and stay the balance, even here.

    Every fantasy bequeths a nightmare,

Else the other wouldn’t know the better

With gnarled fingers, crooked drooling nose,

Eyes of onyx, and teeth of ember rot

    This disfigurement, in rarity, reminds

The most keen eye of how fond it is to dream.

As in reality the most awful truths hide,

    Covered by cloths of dark,

Kept as much to secret from self disgust.
