"Shadows"
There are shadows of me cast upon every wall I find.
They greet me coldly, like the weather when you arrived,
And I watch them fade into the past like the jet-streams
That marked your departure from my life
I drink it down like the vodka you detected on my breath
And these shadows stretch their fingers across the breadth
Of my spirit that subsides to the darkness like death
Passing over the drying petals of a Romance Lilly.
And there are shadows cast upon my future that I find
Planted in these soils from which I recoil
In order to prevent the footprints from marking the path
That will eventually lead me to a life without my shadow
Holding yours against the horizon's wall
Like a constellation that was meant for legends,
And I regret not living up to the fame
For depression overtook me too soon
And I couldn't bear to look upon the walls
Standing so prominently without our shadows together.
