    Poem Commentary

Written after taking a chance, falling in love, and winding up with another broken heart. Guess the heart knows best.

    SHUT UP, HEART

"I told you not to take the chance.
I told you not to start.
I said nothing would come of it."
Why don't you shut up, heart?

"I told you no one's meant for you.
    The risk just wasn't smart.
I said you shouldn't count on it."
Why don't you shut up, heart?

    "I said I wouldn't break again.
    I'd always done my part
the other times you fell in love."
Why dont you SHUT UP, heart!

"You didn't heed my sage advice
and now the old pain starts.
Perhaps this time will be your last."
WHY DON'T YOU SHUT UP, HEART!!

Clever dialogue between the heart and mind...sometimes taking the chance is better than trying to prevent heartbreak...good work here!

Thank you for your comment. You are correct -- taking a chance, though risky, is sometimes better than preventing heartbreak.

If I feel physically as if the top of my head were taken off, I know that is poetry.
