The Colors Of Life

The Colors Of Life

Kites cartwheeling through
       a blue, sun-kissed sky,

A
wash with colors
       of summers gone by.
Licked lollipops looping
        shiny green and white,

Entrapped in sticky fingers
         of the children they delight.

I
ndigo merging with a
         hushed violet hue,

Day becomes night,
         letting stars sparkle through.

O
nset of Autumn,
leaves turn amber, orange and red,

Small, screaming youngsters
          flee from goblins they dread.
Cold winter days are trimmed
           in silver and in gold.
Old and young alike inspired
           by Christ's birth retold.
Pink petal blossoms
           springing up like new hope,
Every season, every moment
            is God's kaleidoscope.

Nature and philosophy intertwined in simple way, though it appears to be meant for children , delights elders too.

If I feel physically as if the top of my head were taken off, I know that is poetry.

Emily Dickinson (1830-1886) American poet.
