  • Been very busy lately. Hope to get past some huge obstacles soon so that I can focus on some writing and spiritual renewal I desparately long for.

The Coming Winds

The Coming Winds

The north wind came without opposition
and held the earth in his sudden embrace
He silenced the land with his icy stare
entranced it ’neath his frosty gaze
In crystal splendor all stood halt
‘cept the quiet deep that gently flows
while the shallow waters froze

The north wind spoke without opposition
and held the earth in his blustery sway
He stilled the land with his icy breath
and veiled it ’neath his frosty haze
In crystal splendor all fell halt
‘cept the quiet deep that gently flows
while the shallow waters froze

The south wind came without opposition
and soothed the earth in his warm embrace
He healed the land with his gentle touch
and clothed her new in living colour
In pristine wonder she shall sing
with the quiet deep that gently flows.

I hail from Missouri so I can relate. I am in 116 degrees right now and it made me shiver. Good job.

You jumped onto some good metaphors and put them to profitable service. Most original word combos? All stood halt, all fell halt. Still waiting for the east wind and the west wind to blow.

Thanks Harver. Maybe I'll be inspired to write about the east and west winds. But this one came to me intertwined with prophetic urgency as I pondered the cold depths and frozen shallows of winter. So, as I saw it all from varing angles, I wrote it in multi- dimensional expression. Anyway, thanks for reading and commenting. You're appreciation is uplifting and very encouraging. Thanks.

Ahhh.. What a wonderful scene. I can feel the relaxation, appreciation and the serenity it portrays. A wonderful job! Very inspirational!

Thanks Erica.I always appreciate your kindness.

Poetry is either something that lives like fire inside you or else it is nothing, an empty formalized bore around which pedants can endlessly drone their notes and explanations.
