Through The Storm
Through The StormAlong this lonely treacherous pass a silting darkness dims my way
A haunting mist fills the air as shadows hasten all around
Howling winds gather strength with awesome force demand retreat
Testing courage trying faith, fear takes pose to seize my reins
Father where are You?
Through the storm I called.
Eternal truth that wakens hope draws my soul to now look up
Piercing satan’s raging storm comes The Light in sudden clear
The Promise spoken long ago disspells the heavy veil of doom
The Son of GOD resounds I AM, and from remembrance love prevailed
Through the storm I stood.
In His Presence I behold, The First and Last The Only One
From the cross He brought me near; to there it is He brings me through
In Father’s arm I cry no more
Through the storm I came. Amen.
Comment: I wrote this poem in October 2005, after hurricane Katrina. It was published in 2006. But, because it was edited without my consent, I withdrew from publishing any more of my work. I sent the company a stern reprimand, and refused all solicitations for my poetry. This is the first time since then that I have felt comfortable enough to share my work again. I hope my poems will be enjoyed and that they will inspire others.
