the silent giant

the silent giant

the silent giant
has quietly slept
calling no attention
to its emcumberred
stores.
awaking each day to
its scheduled tasks.
child labor,meager saleries
to buy their needed rice

now the black bear has
awakened the silent
giant.
slapping it with his paws
of poetic approval,
saying come follow me
and we will change the world together.

A poem begins as a lump in the throat, a sense of wrong, a homesickness, a lovesickness. It finds the thought and the thought finds the words.

Robert Frost (1875-1963) American Poet.
