The wind of Change
An old soul's thoughts about changes to Mother Earth and her children in the name of progress.
Oh Great Spirit,
Look down on me,
From up above,
Dry these tears,
Erase my hidden fears,
Look deep inside my heart,
See through my eyes,
The wind of change,
That has passed by,
Your children,
Here on Mother Earth,
Use to live free,
The mighty buffalo,
Once abound,
Now they’re gone,
Only few are found,
The eagles,
That once soared on high,
No longer embrace,
The morning sky,
The wind of change,
Has passed us by,
Your children,
No longer dot the Plaines,
They are scattered to the winds,
Old ways long forgotten,
The placid lakes,
Drained and replaced,
Progress now takes their place,
Oh Great Spirit,
Mother Earth now cries,
The wind of change,
Passes her by,
Take my life force,
Pour it back into the earth,
Give birth and renewed hope,
Help the young and old cope,
Bring new birth,
To this place,
That now lays barren waste,
Great Spirit,
Hear my cries,
The wind of change,
Is passing by,
Release my spirit,
From this place,
Let the mighty eagle,
Once more fly,
Let the forest,
Lakes and streams,
Once more thrive,
As the wind of changes,
Yet again passes by
