Time
I don't understand,
where do they go,
these grains of sand?
The tighter I grasp,
the more slips from my hand.
It made me boy,
it made me man,
it made me sit,
it made me stand.
It brings us up,
it brings us down.
It brings great mountains,
tumbling down.
It makes all that is green,
and turns it brown.
It follows from birth to the cold, cold ground.
Never a whisper,
never a sound,
It withers the flowers on our burial mound.
Its always here,
never a sign.
It brings us knowledge,
and erases our mind.
It puts us ahead,
it puts us behind.
It brings us fruit,
and rots to the rind.
No matter how hard you try,
you can never stop...
Time.
