TWILIGHT
Crystal clear blue
Gradually fades to gray.
Bidding adieu,
Waves cease to break and spray.
Precocious pigeons retire to shadowy eaves;
No safer place is there to stay.
Once rhythmically fluttering leaves
Can only gently sway.
On land and darkening sea
Daylight slowly surrenders to decay.
Reminiscent of a Christmas tree,
Twinkling lights now punctuate the bay,
As orange hues
Grow dim and melt away,
And nightingales soulfully sing the blues
To mourn the passing day.
