    What Remains

What can remain after all of the pain?
Wondering how I can have not one broken vein.
Standing in the emptiness of my battered path with all the thoughts that stain.
When you leave don't knock just don't turn around.
Cutting holes into all that surround.
Time and again you made sure I don't forget because you nailed it in pound by pound.
You just stab out the truth.
Continue to force me to see all the forgotten from my youth.
Follow me to where I roam as if you are my long lost sleuth.
To you I lied myself from you, I hide.
It rains not on the out of me but inside.
Trying to remember when the last thing worth living for died.
    I stumble and miss.
I can't recall at all and fall into not exist.
A shadow gravitates above me and places me once again in the darkness, I am so used to this.

A poem begins as a lump in the throat, a sense of wrong, a homesickness, a lovesickness. It finds the thought and the thought finds the words.

    Robert Frost (1875-1963) American Poet.
